Here are a few painting tips:
Selecting a Brush
Choosing a brush for your paint job is important. The right brush can make painting easy and comfortable. The wrong brush can make your project much more difficult than it needs to be. Smaller brushes are great for tight spaces and tapered bristles help you get into corners and grooves much more easily. If you’re painting a large flat surface, you’ll want to use a wide brush.
In addition, the type of bristles on your paint brush are important. If you’re using a latex paint, you’ll want to choose synthetic bristles. However, with an oil-based paint, you may be better off with natural bristles.
Choosing a Paint Type
When you’re choosing a paint type, you’ll probably want to select an eggshell finish for most walls. It has a slight hint of gloss, but not too much. For ceilings and rooms with little traffic, you may want to select a flat paint. This paint has no gloss and it’s more difficult to clean. It is, however, good for camouflaging small imperfections on your wall.
Choose a semi-gloss paint for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and children’s rooms. This paint is very durable and easy to clean. If you’re painting cabinets, woodwork for furniture, you may want to select a high-gloss paint. Finally, for doors and trim, satin paint is a good choice.
